I believe there is a dialectic at work. The left had it's day during the Clinton years. A very dark side of the Sixties in the form of moral decadence was exposed for all to see.

A neoconservative reaction was triggered, which was neither "neo" nor "conservative", and an overarching, Randian idolatry of the marketplace took it's place.

If we don't soon find a middle ground we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the last fifteen or twenty years. I'm riding the rather boring middle of the road hobby horse until I get tired.
