The Club for Growth blog is experiencing a burst of traffic this weekend. Unfortunately for Steve Moore and his political progeny, it's not particularly uplifting traffic. Author Andrew Roth takes favorite whipping boy Arlen Specter to task for his opposition to Social Security privatization, and uses Josh Marshall's TalkingPointsMemo to identify him as such.
Trouble with that what, after about a week Marshall happened to mention it on his site--and the comments flowed. About two thirds down, someone asks the pointed question: have you ever read a post at a highly partisan political blog, and out of dozens of comments, not ONE person supported the author's viewpoint? Particularly telling, in a serious vein, is the number of people who claim to be "moderate Republicans" and sound awfully skeptical of the plans they're hearing. I have to say it's looking clearer that cuts in benefits are not going to be part of the equation, or at least the major part. Which leaves borrowing or raising taxes, not exactly more palatable options to a lot of people. I'm betting on expanding the payroll cap, but that of course is the one thing Bush has actually specified about the plan--that he won't raise payroll taxes.
Anyhow, to paraphrase Roth, I'm Recommending a Conservative Blog--that just got nailed by a liberal jihad.
